Marian F. Gruenberg
Marian F. Gruenberg

Marian F. Gruenberg, age 88, of Monroe, WI passed away peacefully April 1st, at SSM Hospice Home in Monroe, WI. She was born January 15, 1935 to Benjamin and Inez (Olsen) Due in Woodford, WI. She attended grade school in Woodford and graduated from Monroe High School in 1952. She was united in marriage to Glenn F. Gruenberg on October 25, 1952 in Monroe, WI.

She worked at many jobs including: Rossing’s Department Store and Restaurant, Argyle Lumber, Argyle Village Office, Monroe Manor, Argyle Industries, and Gruenberg and Sons Excavating. In 1985, she and Glenn built a covered wagon and left on a journey where they traveled from Argyle to northern Wisconsin before trekking all the way to Texas where they joined the bicentennial wagon train for a few months. They stayed for a time in Brenham, TX at the Monastery St. Claire where they assisted Sister Bernadette with her miniature horses and pottery shop.

Marian loved reading, genealogy, scrapbooking and collecting covered wagons. At one point, her covered wagon collection exceeded 900 items and she had documented the date, location, and price of each and every one. She prided herself in having read through the entire bible yearly for many decades. She sang at many weddings and funerals for many families in and around Argyle in her younger days. Her various hobbies over the years included sewing, cross stitch, gardening (especially flowers and strawberries), singing, pontoon boating with her husband, and bible study. But most of all, she dearly loved her family.

She is survived by her children: Craig (Michele) Gruenberg, Hales Corners, Kim (Jill Pratt) Gruenberg, Darlington and Kevin (Melissa) Gruenberg, Argyle as well as four grandchildren Amy (David) Fortier, Racine, Denise (Dan) Fink, New Berlin, James (Danielle) Gruenberg, Oak Creek and Danielle (Dave) Bailey, Monroe and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Joyce, Evelyn, Ruby and Gladys, her husband Glenn in 2011, and her daughter Laurie in 2022.

Our family would like to thank SSM Hospice Home for their loving care given to Marian. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Marian’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 12th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Dr. Monroe, WI.
