Marian Cristine Furgal, age 72, of Monroe, died on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on January 4, 1948 in Monroe, the daughter of Carl and Dorothy (Buehler) Maurer.

Marian was a 1966 graduate of Monroe High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from U.W. Oshkosh in 1971.

Marian and Michael Furgal were united in marriage on August 22, 1987 in Albany.

Marian was a life member of Cecil Jones VFW Auxiliary #2312 in Monroe, joining in 1972. She served as Sr. Vice President, President, Trustee and then 26 years as Treasurer.

She served in district 1 as president twice, serving from 1989-1990 and again in 2006-2007; she served as treasurer from 2008-present; she served 10 years as a department state officer, culminating with state president in 1996-1997; served 6 years as a Big 10 Conference Officer ending with Big 10 Conference president in 2013-2014. She also served as Grand State president of MOC Auxiliary in 2003-2004; she was a member of Tornado Auxiliary #14; Military Order of the Cootie; past president and presently secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Furgal of Monroe, children, Frank (Carrie Tangorra) Furgal of Monroe, Louie (Mike Botteron) Furgal of Orlando, FL, Mary Jo (Brian) Stites of Browntown; 5 grandchildren: Joe VanMatre, Parker and Harleigh Ditzenberger, Wren and Hamilton Stites and 1 great-grandaughter, Addyson.

Private memorial services will be held. A celebration of Marian’s life will be held at a later date.
