Mahlon “Mac” Edward Frie, age 89, passed away on January 8, 2026, at Monroe Health Services, Monroe, WI. Mac was born on August 16, 1936, in Argyle, WI to Edward and Marjorie Frie. 

Mac met the love of his life Verla Wahl in his teens, and they got married at age 16 in 1953. They were married until Verla passed away in 1988. He graduated from Brodhead High School in 1955. After graduation, Mac worked on farms and started his own milk truck business, Mahlon Frie Trucking. He dedicated his life to his business, finally selling the company at age 81. Mac married Enid Taylor in 1996, and they were married for 19 years until she passed away in 2015. He was known for always having a toothpick in his mouth. Mac enjoyed going to McDonalds with the old timers to get his morning coffee and playing euchre at the senior center with his loving companion Virginia Schliem. He was a proud fire fighter for Brodhead Fire Department for 40+ years. Mac was a lifelong member of the Brodhead United Methodist Church.  

Mac is survived by his son; Matthew (Art) Frie, Companion; Virginia Schliem and family, step-daughters; Amy Taylor and Ann (Bob) Brown, grandchildren; Joey and Madi Brown, brother; Milo (Karen) Frie, Brothers-in-law; Donald (Brenda) Wahl and Dick Nimz, sisters-in-law; Carol Ann (John) Paulson, Lorraine (Norman) Williams, Karen (Gene) Bass, and Kathy (Ed) Schlappi, special niece Dani Jo who watched over Mac, many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. 

Mac is preceded in death by his first wife; his second wife; his parents; daughter; Michelle Frie, son; Mahlon Frie II, brothers; Robert Frie and Ernie Frie, sisters; Lucy Nipple, Dee Cory and Marie Reavis. 

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11:30 AM, at Brodhead United Methodist, 501 1st Center Ave, Brodhead, WI 53520. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. A private family graveside will take place after the service.
