After a long life of love and labor, LuAnn Krahenbuhl, 92,was welcomed into a well-deserved eternal rest on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe. She spent her first years of life in South Wayne, the sixth of nine children born to Frank and Ella Wehinger. She graduated as valedictorian of her 8th grade class (She was the only 8th grader, but still…) and went on to graduate from South Wayne High School before she worked for a short time at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe.
Then she met Karl, and the real adventures began! After a whirlwind courtship, she and Karl were married at the St. Joseph Rectory in Gratiot and began their life together as husband and wife that would endure for almost 70-years until Karl died in 2023. Most of their farming and family-raising took place on the farm on County HK, but when their seven “non-hired hands” went on to other endeavors, they began their second chapter of life, moving into Monroe. For the next two decades, LuAnn worked at Monroe Veterinary Clinic before finally retiring.
She is survived by her seven children: Greg (Connie), Carlie (Les) Etscheidt, Kathy (Brian) Mayer, Gary, Walt (Maureen), Rob (Christopher) and Ann (Steve) Warren; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Dilly (Sam) Nafzger; and a sister-in-law, Heddy Shager.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl; their son, Paul; and daughter-in-law, Jan. Others proceeding her in death include her siblings and Karl’s sister and many in-laws.
An ever-faithful Catholic, a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe on Friday, February 20 at 11:00. Visitation will take place from 9:30 until the time of service.
Any memorials will be passed on to the St. Victor Church/Christ the King Parish (Mom’s home parish), St. Croix Hospice (who served LuAnn faithfully in these past months) and Green County Humane Society (she was a lover of animals).
