MONTICELLO — Lorraine Mary Atkinson, age 82, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the New Glarus Home. Lorraine was born on October 27, 1935 in “The Bush” in Madison, WI to her parents Emil and Mary (Wagner) Peterson. She attended Lapham and Lincoln Grade Schools and graduated from Central High School in Madison. On September 20, 1958 Lorraine was united in marriage to Raymond Atkinson. Lorraine and Ray first lived in Madison where son Dale was born, the couple then moved to Fond du Lac, where son Dean was born. After seven years the couple moved to Sun Prairie for two years and then settled for the next 32 years outside New Glarus on “Ray’s Little Hobby Farm.” Lorraine and Ray shared 41 years together until his passing. In 2000, Lorraine moved to Monticello with her dear canine companion Abby. Lorraine was a member of the Washington Reformation Church and Eastern Star.
Lorraine is survived by her sons Dale (Jodi) Atkinson and Dean Atkinson, grandchildren Ross, Drew, and Gracie, great-grandchildren, an adopted daughter by “heart” Lisa Aeberhard, former daughter-in-law Janet Hebl, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI with Pastor Kendell Nordstrom officiating. Inurnment will be in Highland Cemetery, Monticello, WI.
A gathering of relatives and friends will precede the memorial service from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus.
