Loren Donald Bagley (Don)
Loren Donald Bagley (Don)

Loren Donald Bagley (Don), 92, of Clinton, WI, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on January 18, 1933, in Albany, WI, the son of Burr and Emma (Freitag) Bagley. He married the love of his life, Cynthia Bartlett Bagley (Cindy), on June 6, 1954, in Albany, WI who preceded him in death on October 2, 2022. They were married for 68 years. Loren missed her every single day since her passing, and they are now at peace with one another again.

Loren graduated high school in Albany at just 17 years old in 1950. He later continued his education at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). Loren spent over 20 years of hard work and dedication farming. He eventually retired as a machinist from Scot Forge in Clinton after 20 years of commitment.

Over his 92 years of life, Loren became known to friends and family as an avid reader, passionate historian, and hobbyist collector. He had an insatiable curiosity that he sought to fulfill through endlessly reading, doing word searches, keeping an eye on the neighborhood, trips to the cottage, and searching for arrowheads. He had an outstanding eagle eye that he used for finding and collecting his treasures, like the rare and beautiful arrowheads he found on the beaches of Lake Koshkonong. He also used this skill to find and share plenty of other odds and ends along the way.

Loren used his love for where he grew up and enjoyment of history to document and share the histories of Green and Rock counties. Particularly, tracing family genealogy and the history of the cemeteries in the area. This was a passion that both he and his wife shared. Loren also had many additional hobbies including enjoying his favorite foods and requesting them endlessly from his family members, watching a game with his daughters, and visiting with family from Green County.

Loren was soft-spoken and a man of few words, but when he spoke it mattered. He was always listening intently and cared deeply about what you said (so long as he found it interesting). Loren had his own ways of showing love to family and friends. He gave out his special $2 bills at every holiday and event, and often just because. He never missed a birthday and had every new person in his life put their birthdate down in his birthday book. Loren will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Loren was predeceased by his parents, siblings, and loving wife. Survivors include his daughters, Susan Bagley and Laurie Shelbourn; son, Lance (Jackie) Bagley; granddaughters, Alisha Shelbourn (Antonio Cruz), Lauren Bagley (Nate Stump), McKenzie (Matthew) Brewer, and Kendyl Bagley; great-granddaughters, Larissa Scott and Aaliah Rose; many much-loved nieces and nephews; and the Cary family.

A Memorial Visitation for Loren will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Loren’s name will be given to the Clinton Public Library or the English Settlement Cemetery.
