Lois Ann Nielsen, age 68, of Belmont, WI, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at UW Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born on February 2, 1954, in Baltimore, MD. Lois was the daughter of Homer Young and Geraldine (Cushin) Young. Growing up in Baltimore, Lois attended school where she graduated from Brooklyn High School and then went on to earning a certificate in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. In 1977, she met the love of her life, Tim Nielsen, on a blind date while he was in the service. On April 27, 1977, Tim and Lois were united in marriage and they lived in Maryland while Tim was stationed there. Together, they traveled around the United States while Tim was in the Service. Retiring from the Marines in 1985, Tim and Lois moved to Darlington, WI, where they raised their family. She worked as a CNA at various nursing homes and care centers in the Lafayette County area.
Lois is survived by her husband Tim Nielsen at home; her two sons: Aaron Nielsen of Belmont and Jermey (Jen McGinty) Nielsen of Brooklyn, WI; her 6 grandchildren: Cody, Cayden, Payton, Maddie, Jazlyn, and Camrie; and her siblings: Tommy (Joanna) Young of Glenn Bernie, MD, Lee (Nikki) Young of Elkridge, MD, Patsy (Steve) Dayton of Millersville, MD, and Doris (David) Dary of Severn, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jimmy Young.
Lois was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Maryland. She loved being with her family and friends and creating memories that will be cherished forever. Lois will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington (508 Park Place, Darlington, WI, 53530) and will be officiated by Rev. Nick McElrath of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Erickson Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until 12:45 PM.
