Linda S. Bauman
Linda S. Bauman

Linda S. Bauman, age 75, of Monroe passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at the SSM Health Hospice Home, surrounded by her family. She was born the daughter of Frederick and Juanita (Isely) Brandt on April 25, 1949 in Monroe. She was a 1967 graduate of Argyle High School, she also attended Stout University. Linda was united in marriage to Jimmy Bauman on June 6, 1970 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe.

Linda started her working career as a Reservationist for Air Canada working in the Marina Towers in Chicago. She later worked for the Monroe Clinic and the Gift Castle on the square. For many years, she worked alongside her husband, Jimmy, on their farm.

Linda was known as a talented baker and cook, having made, and decorated several wedding cakes. She was also a gifted seamstress and had two embroidery machines at home to accommodate all of her projects. Linda also taught sewing and embroidery classes at Blackhawk Technical College. She was mostly self-taught and was never afraid to figure out new projects, she even taught herself direct to garment computerized embroidery. Linda also enjoyed crafts, painting, and knitting. She was a stickler for detail and continued to work on projects until they were perfect. She memorialized her talents with her license plate HNDYGRL, meaning “handy girl”. Linda had an incredible memory and was able to remember birthdays and anniversaries for all of her family and friends throughout the years. Linda also had a soft spot in heart for cats and treated them like her children, they received the best care and love from her.

Linda and Jimmy were also members of Antique Wheelers Car Club. Together they would arrange and facilitate bus tours throughout the US with the car club members. They loved to travel, and enjoyed taking trips throughout the US and Canada as well as Germany to visit Jimmy’s family and countless trips to different islands; especially Puerta Vallarta where they stayed every year. Linda and Jimmy had a wonderful marriage built on open communication and love; they were never known to have a fight, Linda never wanted to add any anger to the world when there could be love instead.

Linda is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jimmy of Monroe; siblings, Joan (Jerry Metz) Brandt of McConnell, IL, Steve Brandt of Browntown, Richard (Dee Tripp) Brandt of Argyle, Don (Tammy) Brandt of Monroe, Debby (Jeff) Rupnow of Monroe, and Susie (Kenton) Krueger of Monroe; special niece, Traci Newcomer of Browntown; and God-daughter, Julie Atkins; she is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and many dear friends.
