Lester L. Nider
Lester L. Nider

Lester L. Nider, age 63, of Monroe, died Saturday, August 4 2018 at Monroe Clinic Hospital.  He was born on September 8, 1954 in Malvern, Arkansas, the son of Mark and Virginia (Earsom) Nider. He grew up in Napervillle, Illinois and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.  He received his Medical Degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago and did his residency at Berwyn Hospital and the Hines V. A. Lester married Leslie A. Husmann on June 9, 1984 in Crystal Lake, Illinois.  Dr. Nider has worked at the Monroe Clinic for 23 years.

He is survived by his wife, Leslie, of Monroe: 2 daughters: Marie Nider of Milwaukee, and Julia Nider of Fond du Lac; father and mother -in-law, John and Marie Husmann; sister Marca (Mike) Brubaker of Becker, MN; brother-in-law, Harry (Mary) Husmann of Coon Rapids, MN; sister-in-law, Christie Wrenn of Whitefish Bay; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, M. Todd Nider.

Lester had many passions in his life, but his focus was always on his family. He lived his life for them, encouraging and supporting them in all of their interests. He volunteered for many of his girls' activities, starting with Pre-school.  He was active with both Career Days and Hobby Days at the Middle School, Earth Day at the primary schools, and even organized building cardboard boats with the children in the local Shakespeare program, Shakespeare on the Edge.  His love for science showed in all parts of his life and he was frequently asked to bring science demonstrations to parties and events.

Dr. Nider was also very committed to his practice of medicine.  He cared deeply for his patients and felt honored to be able to be their physician. He had worked in several locations and felt Monroe's rural community, and the Monroe Clinic, was the perfect place to practice medicine, and also to raise a family.
