Keith E. Ingwell, age 72, of Monroe passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at the William S. Middleton Veterans Hospital in Madison, notably at 10:33, which is symbolic to his commitment to public service and EMS. He was born the son of Everett and Dorothea (Widmer) on October 17, 1947 in Monroe. He was a 1965 graduate of Blanchardville High School, and also attended MATC from 1965-66 and was a graduate of Barbering School. Keith was united in marriage to Brenda Miller on May 5, 1984 in Monroe.

Keith was drafted to the US Army in 1969 where he served during the Vietnam War. When he returned, he was a barber in New Glarus. He later worked as the Green County Veterans Service Officer for many years; he also served as the Green County Emergency Management Director, EMS Coordinator, and as an instructor at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD. Keith was also a member of the New Glarus Fire Department and EMS, American Legion Post 141 in New Glarus, VFW Post 2312 in Monroe, and DAV Post in Beloit. Civic leadership and community involvement were very important to Keith, he was a Green County Deputy Coroner and served on the Monroe City Council.

Keith especially enjoyed being with his family and watching his grandchildrens’ sports and activities. He also liked to watch the Badgers, Bears, and Cubs. He also loved his many yearly trips to Mexico with his wife, Brenda. Keith never knew a stranger. He was one-of-a-kind and loved to help others. He also loved his Swiss and Norwegian heritage.

Keith is survived by his wife, Brenda of Monroe; daughters, Kayla (Travis) Zimmerman of New Glarus, Kara (Chris) Ziegemeier of Urbandale, IA, and Kim (Mike) Huie of Madison; step-son, Brad (April) Moellenberndt of Evansville; step-daughter, Patti (Tony) Wilhite of Monroe; 14 grandchildren, Noah, Eli, and Simon Zimmerman, Max, Harper, and Jillian Ziegemeier, Isaac Ingwell, Brady Wilhite, Alec and Kade Moellenberndt, Conor, Devin, Adele, and Oliver Huie. He is further survived by his brother, Scott (Karen) Ingwell of Cartersville, GA; brother-in-law, Randy (Judy) Miller of Monroe; four nieces; and his dog, Ellie.  

He was preceded in death by his parents.
