Karen M. Redies, age 86 of Browntown passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Pleasant View Nursing Home.  She was born on April 5, 1939 the daughter of John and Minnie (Hermann) Sundermeyer in Readlyn, IA.  She graduated from Readlyn High School.  On September 24, 1961 Karen was united in marriage to James Redies.  Karen farmed with her husband for 35 years.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.  Karen loved tending to her vegetable garden and growing purple gladiolas.  She spent countless hours canning her own pickles and tomatoes. 

Karen is survived by her daughters, Wendy Redies and Heidi Redies both of Browntown; granddaughter, Karlie Redies of Monroe; and sister, Julene Anhalt.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Doris Pries. 

Private Family Services will be held.  A public Celebration of Karen’s Life will be held later in the spring.  Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shgfuneralhome.net.
