Karen Kay Wicklund
Karen Kay Wicklund

Karen Kay Wicklund, age 61, of Monroe, WI. was called home to be with her Mom and Dad on June 29, 2024, with her loving family by her side, after her battle with an autoimmune disorder. Karen was born on January 30, 1963, in Monroe, WI. the youngest of 6 to Arvid and Dorothy (Nybroten) Wicklund. She graduated in 1981 from Blackhawk High School in South Wayne, WI. Karen married young and became a young mother. She loved her only child Corey, and absolutely adored her three grandsons Kyler, Kanyon, and Kingslee. They were her life’s joy. Karen worked on her family farm, Wicklund Feed, early on and retired from Piggly Wiggly Supermarket in 2020 in Monroe, WI. after 33 years of working in the Customer Service Department.

Karen was one of a kind. She lived her life to the fullest, and firmly believed in, “Dance before the music’s over, live before your life is over.” She lit up any room she walked into with her bright smile and contagious laugh. Karen had the biggest heart ever. She was always the fun friend, mom, sister, aunt, and grandma. She followed in her father's footsteps with her sense of humor by instigating pranks on many and laughing. She loved her kitties, spending time with her grandsons, thrift shopping, collecting crosses and churches, motorcycle riding, camping, road trips with her sisters, dressing up in crazy costumes at work, and being in the northwoods of Wisconsin at her parents' retirement home.

She is survived by her son Corey Seffrood, Monroe, WI. Her grandsons Kyler, Kanyon, and Kingslee Seffrood, their mother, Bonnie Gordon, siblings Ruth Heimann, Monroe, WI., Laurel Wicklund, Freeport, IL., Keith (Chris) Wicklund, Rockton, IL., Nancy (Rich) Bracco, Petaluma, CA., Marc Wicklund, Lake Mills, WI. She is also survived by her close friends, Bob Meyer and Brittney Perkins, who were there for Karen during her final days at home.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Tami, Troy, Rianna, Maria, Kayla, Sheanna, Dillan, Leah, and Matthew, as well as great nieces and nephews who loved their funny, jokester aunt. She is preceded in death by her parents Arvid and Dorothy Wicklund and her grandparents, Casper and Stella Nybroten.

Baby Sister, you always brought a smile to so many faces and we will miss you dearly. Now get that card game started with Mom and Dad!

Many thanks to St. Croix Hospice, as well as her own niece and Hospice Nurse, Tami Johnson, who was an absolute godsend helping her with anything.
