Julie Ann Ostrander
Julie Ann Ostrander

Julie Ann Ostrander, age 56, of Monroe passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at St. Clare Friedensheim, surrounded by family and friends after a short, courageous battle with cancer. She was born the daughter of Donald and Karen (Marty) Rule on May 3, 1968 in Monroe. She was a graduate of Monroe High School; and later attended Capri Cosmetology School in Madison where she became a Licensed Cosmetologist. Julie was united in marriage to Gordon A. Ostrander on September 22, 1990 at St. John’s United Church of Christ.

Julie owned and operated Shear Impressions in Browntown for 24 years. For several years, she was also the hairdresser for the residents of Pleasant View Nursing Home, and provided foot care at the Behring Senior Center. Throughout her years doing business in Browntown, Julie made many lasting friendships and became a dependable supporter of local groups and events. Julie will certainly be remembered for her lively and loving personality; she loved to entertain and was a great host. In her free time, she enjoyed being outdoors: kayaking, fishing, camping, and snowmobiling. She also loved plants, flowers, scrapbooking, taking pictures and crocheting. She cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandbabies and Sunday night suppers. She was a longtime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.

Julie is survived by her husband, Gordon; daughters, Brooke Ostrander and Breanna (Brett) Lovelace; grandbabies, Grace and Brodey; parents, Don and Karen Rule; brother, Scott Rule; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at St. John’s United Church of Christ with Reverend Todd Hackman officiating. The service will also be available through live stream at stjohnsuccmonroe.com, and click on “View Worship Services Here".
