John W. Pfingsten, age 80 of Monroe, died Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Monroe Health Services. He was born on March 27, 1940 in Illinois, the son of Emil and Hilda (Kerschke) Pfingsten. He graduated from Palatine High School. John was united in marriage to Judith A. Oerkfitz in Crystal Lake, IL on March 17, 1962.
John proudly served in the National Guard. He was a dairy farmer in Crystal Lake from 1962 to 1980, then moved to Monroe and farmed from 1980 to 1983. He also worked at Equity Livestock for many years and enjoyed driving tractor for Steve and Aaron Digman. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, The Loyal Order of Moose, lodge #754, and Green County Conservation League.
He is survived by his wife, Judy of Monroe; children: Gary (Connie) Pfingsten of Monroe, Dennis Pfingsten of Juda, Jodie Pfingsten of Monroe, and Kimberly (Frank) Tallman of Monroe; 3 grandchildren, Cody, Courtney, and Brittany and 6 step-grandchildren, Jess, Sara, Adam, Tamara, Devon, and Travis; 3 step-great grandchildren, Hayden, Alyssa, and Lauren; a brother, William Pfingsten of TN; a sister, Delores (James) Pederson of Crystal Lake, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Frederick; and a brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 7, 2020 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 6, 2020 from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. at the church.
