John T. Rosa, age 72, of Monroe passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at his home. He was born the son of Bob and Jean (Snivley) Rosa on January 22, 1953 in Monroe. He was a 1971 graduate of Monroe High School. He continued his education receiving his BA and BFA from Northern Kentucky University and MFA from Florida State University. John was united in marriage to LuAnne Carole Allen on June 11, 1986; they shared 36 years together until LuAnne’s passing in 2022. 

John owned and operated Rosa Florist in Monroe for many years. Later in life, he was a welcoming, familiar face while he worked at Baumgartner’s Cheese Store and Tavern and Laughing Trout. John enjoyed traveling, volunteering at the Green County Humane Society, designing, building, and lighting stage sets, pottery, woodworking and fishing. 

John is survived by his cousins, Diane Rosa Davis, Sherman, TX; Cheri Rosa Henry, Baraboo, WI; Fred Rosa, Fort Collins, CO; Steve Rosa, Palm Desert, CA and Sandi Rosa Perry, Colleyville, TX; brothers-in-law, John (Kelly) Allen, Ray (Lisa) Allen, Cliff Allen, and Virgil Allen; as well as several extended relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LuAnne; brother, R. Mark Rosa; and cousin, E.B. Rosa III “Benjie”.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at the Monroe Art Center Concert Hall with a program starting at 3:00 PM.
