John Svendsen, age 73, of Argyle passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at the New Glarus Home.  He was born on February 21, 1952 the son of Victor and Lorraine (Friedli) Svendsen.  He attended Monticello High School and later received his GED through the military.  John proudly served in the United States Army from 1972 until 1974.  In 1972 John married Evelyn Wirth; together they had four sons; they later divorced. 

John was a dairy farmer as well as a truck driver for Babler Trucking and Wayne Austin Trucking for many years.  He enjoyed tractor pulling, going to sales and farm auctions, and visiting with his neighbors. 

John is survived by his children, Dan Svendsen, Scott Svendsen, Justin (Macy) Svendsen, Christopher (Chloe Craig) Fawcett, and Danielle (Jordan Jaco-Rhoads) Fawcett; grandchildren, Brittany (Tyler) Bottoms, Tiarra Jackson, Trevor Jackson, Rylee Svendsen, Ashlyn Svendsen, Mason Svendsen, Emily Svendsen, and Taylor Svendsen; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Vicki Banovsky, David Svendsen, Diana (Tom) Bonk, Mark (Lila) Svendsen, and Lori Voegeli.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Svendsen and Lorraine Tollakson; son Jason Svendsen; brother-in-law, Laverne “Pint” Blum; niece, Corina (Voegeli) Burton; and great-nephew, Austin Blum. 

Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.  A private family burial will be held at Adams Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shgfuneralhome.net.
