On July 23, 1961 John married Betty Lincicum at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Warren.

John was a local business owner from 1960 to 2022. He owned and operated Skelly’s gas station, which later became Daehlin’s Shell, eventually renting out U-Hauls. He enjoyed the early morning "coffee clutch" group of friends at the station for many years. A self-taught mechanic, John loved his 1939 Plymouth Coup, which he drove in parades as a member of the Yesteryear Auto Club.  He was also a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.

He was an active member of the American Legion, serving in various roles over the years. He enjoyed reading every day, especially historical books, and loved rooting for the Packers.

John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty of Monroe; brother-in-law, Greg (Kathy) Lincicum; sister-in-law, Shirley Duchow; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Paul Daehlin in 1988; daughter, Michelle Renee Daehlin in 2020; sister, Jean (Alvin) Goepfert; mother and father-in-law, Florence and Frances Lincicum; and brothers-in-law, Richard, Robert, James, and Eugene Lincicum.
