Jeannette A. Broge, age 94 of Monticello, died on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Jeannette was born on May 16, 1927 in Dane County, the daughter of Roy and Esther Marie (Rhyner) Blum. She attended Gill Rural School and Belleville High School. She was united in marriage to Edwin Russell Broge on April 29, 1946 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe. Jeannette worked as a Nurse’s Aide at St. Clare Hospital and following her marriage helped her husband with Red’s Taxi as well as waitressing at the Swiss Wheel in Monroe. The couple moved to Monticello in 1955 and Jeannette continued to work seasonally at the Swiss Colony Bakery for several years. She was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ and the Ladies’ Aid, co-chairperson of the Red Cross Bloodmobile for many years, and a Monticello Lioness since 1981. Jeannette also enjoyed bowling for 49 years in a league at Swiss Lanes in New Glarus.

She is survived by five children, Cheryl Fosler of West Salem, WI, Cathy (Jim) Grenzow of Sun Prairie, Cinda (Jim) Field of Monroe, Dennis (Mary) Broge of Eagan, MN, Collette (Brett) Dinges of Monroe; daughter-in-law, Kari Broge of Monticello; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; two step great-granddaughters; a brother, Wayne (Jeannie) Berge of Missouri; and sisters, Audrey (Larry) Dietrich of Mt. Horeb, and Lynn McCollister of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin, on January 6, 1997; son, Terry (Kool-Aid) Broge on Sept. 15, 2010; and a son-in-law, Shirl Fosler.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Rev. Lance Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Fellowship will continue following the service at the Lake Montesian shelter house. A memorial fund will be established in Jeannette’s name.
