Janis Marie Johnson, age 76, of Monroe, died Monday, December 7, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 1, 1944 in Monroe, the daughter of Milo H. and Selma M. (Siedschlag) Miller. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1962. Jan married Chester Johnson on December 28, 1972 in Monroe.

Jan worked for United Telephone Company, Lanz Insurance, First National Bank and Trust as well as Kittleson Law Office; and she was instrumental in starting the family business, Badger State Propane. She was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Chester of Monroe; children: Heidi (Daryl) Braun of Oak Creek, WI and Benjamin Johnson of Monroe; grandchildren, Ellise and Brielle; brother, Paul (Cheryl) Miller of Monroe; and sister, Karen (David) Bachman of Canon City, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Martintown Community Church, with Pastor Kevin Cernek officiating. Visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of service on Thursday, at the church. Memorials may be made to the Monroe United Methodist Church or the Slice Arena.
