James Ogden Driver Jr.

MADISON - James Ogden Driver Jr., 69, of Madison, Wis., passed away on October 13, 2025. Born on November 30, 1955, in Princeton, N.J., he was the son of the late James Ogden Driver Sr. and Constance Jane Driver (Fanget).
James began his college education at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wis., later transferring to the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. While at UW–Madison, he was a proud member of the Acacia Fraternity. He later went on to earn an additional Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Upper Iowa University in Madison, Wis.
Throughout high school and college, James worked side by side with his family at United Telephone Company in Monroe, Wis., developing a strong work ethic and appreciation for small business operations that would carry through his life. As a young man, he ran for the Wisconsin State Assembly, reflecting his commitment to community and civic engagement. Later, he found fulfillment working directly with people as a hardware salesman at Menards, where his kindness, humor, and generosity of spirit were felt by colleagues and customers alike.
A devoted philanthropist, James was a longtime supporter of numerous charities, including Boys Town and Operation Smile, always finding ways to give back and help those in need. He retired in 2020, cherishing the time spent with family.
James is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Driver; his daughter, Lillian Gwillim (Dr. Eran Gwillim); and his son, Dr. James Ogden Driver III (Dr. Vassa Grichko). He is also survived by his sister, Constance Driver (Greg Wuetrich); and his brother, Robert Driver (Carol Driver). In addition to numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his warmth, intelligence, quiet wit, and the unwavering love and support he gave to those closest to him.
