James C. Yocum Kollatz, age 62 of Gratiot, died Friday, October 25, 2019 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County. He was born on December 6, 1956 in Kodiak, Alaska, the son of James and Romona (Faust) Yocum. He graduated from Central High School in West Allis, WI. He served in the U.S. Army. James married Barbara A. Sadorf on May 7, 1975 in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was a truck driver his entire life, he served in the National Guard, where he was a truck driver hauling tanks around the country. He was a member of Gratiot Evangelical Free Church, the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #754 of Monroe, he enjoyed driving his go-carts, camping and working on vehicles. His biggest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of Gratiot; sons: James (Amy) Kollatz of Monroe and Michael (Dawn) Kollatz of Albany; his father, James Yocum; 4 grandchildren: Ashley, Nicholas, Zander, and Zoey; siblings: Rick (Jane) Yocum, Vicki (Sterling ) Brandenburg, Ron Yocum, Randy (Victoria) Yocum, and LaRhonda ( Eddie ) Paez. He was preceded in death by his mother, Romona.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Gratiot Free Church with Pastor Glenn Andes officiating. Burial will be in Gratiot Methodist cemetery, Gratiot. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home.
