Irene Helen Mellenberger, age 88, of Browntown passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born the daughter of Lloyd and Helen (Boeck) Trickel on January 26, 1936.  Irene married Eugene Mellenberger on July 24, 1953 in Dubuque, Iowa. 

Irene farmed with her husband in the Browntown area for many years.  She also had a longtime career as a Tupperware Manager.  Irene was formally a member of Peace Church in Browntown.  She was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher, Church Youth Group leader, and 4H foods leader.  Irene enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren the most. 

Irene is survived by her sons, Randall (Rosemarie) of Madison, Rick (Noreen) of Edgerton, Royal of Greenfield, and Ryan (Tabitha) of Browntown, daughters, Rita Wells of Browntown and Rhonda (Kreg) Elmer of Browntown; grandchildren, Mark Elmer, Joel Elmer, Jenny Rood, Wendy Kimble, Rick Mellenberger Jr., Amy Mellenberger, Rylee Mellenberger; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene; granddaughter, Stepanie Mellenberger; sisters, Rena Flynn and Virginia Friedly; and son-in-law, Tony Wells.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Staver United Methodist Church with Pastor JoAnn Meyer officiating.  Burial will follow at Saucerman Cemetery. 

A visitation will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: Shriner111.com.
