Helen Marie Johnson, age 91, of Wiota, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 at Lafayette Manor Nursing Home in Darlington, WI.  She was born on March 16th, the daughter of Richard and Elizebeth McGowan.  She graduated from Blanchardville, WI.  She was united in marriage to Ralph Jonson on June 17, 1956 at Yellowstone Lutheran Church.  Together they shared a beautiful life filled with love, family, and community until Ralph’s passing on January 3rd, 2023.  Helen helped with book work for Sonny’s excavating business, she was a homemaker, and worked for Zimmerman Cheese Factory. 

Helen was a member of Wiota Lutheran Church, also she was in the Homemakers of the Church, and Wiota Auxiliary Club.  In her free time Helen loved entertaining holidays with family.  Her favorites were making lefsa, sandbakkels, strudel, pies, and many delicious meals for family and friends.  Helen loved reading books, gardening, lots of flowers and many cactus but most of all she loved her salt and pepper shaker collection.  Helen loved traveling to Switzerland and Arizona seeing family.  Helen deeply cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was very proud of all of them.

Helen is survived by her two children, Karlan (Shirley) Johnson of Gratiot, WI, and Eldon (Alice) Johnson of Lake Havasu, AZ; grandchildren, Melissa Brunner, Jeremiah Johnson, Joshua (Lacey) Johnson; as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, Hayden and Keira Brunner, Addisyn and Matthew Johnson, Archer, Oaklee, and Waverly Johnson. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph, and brother, Bernard McGowan.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Wiota Lutheran Church with Pastor Bruce Engebregtson officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date at Yellowstone Lutheran Cemetery. 

A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shgfuneralhome.net.
