Helen Louise (Kloepping) Wilson

Helen Louise (Kloepping) Wilson, 101 of Dakota, Illinois went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 14th at Saint Joseph Village in Freeport.  She was born October 12th, 1924, in Jefferson Township, Juda Wisconsin to Fred and Florence (Stuckey) Kloepping.  On September 22nd, 1943, she married Nobel O. Wilson at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe, Wisconsin. 

After graduating from Orangeville High School in 1942, Helen attended Columbia Academy of Beauty Culture in Rockford.  After graduation, she opened a beauty shop in Orangeville, while Nobel returned to his Navy Reserve as an Aviation Cadet.  She enjoyed being a beautician in her home. 

Nobel and Helen farmed in the Dakota area until they retired in 1977.  She was a member of the Afolkey Grace E.C Church for many years.  She was the church Historian for years.  In 1977, she and Nobel helped to plant the Winnebago Fellowship Church in Winnebago.  Helen was responsible for the children’s program, including leading them in a bible study, and the children’s Sunday School.  Helen spent many hours helping at the beloved Rock River Bible Camp in Dixon.  Helen did numerous activities to help with VBS, including baking cookies. 

She was a member of the Rock Run Historical Society along with Nobel for 13 years.  She was also a member of the Happy Day Stephenson County Homemakers group. 

She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, quilting, and scrapbooking.  She also collected plates.  She was an avid Cubs fan and was thrilled to see them finally win a World Series.  Helen loved her grandkids and enjoyed playing games and doing puzzles with them.  She taught many of them how to cook.  Her nieces and nephews were always welcomed in her home with open arms. 

She enjoyed hosting missionaries, friends, and family in her home.

Surviving are her son Gaylon (Pat) Wilson of Freeport, daughter Sandra (Kenny) Mitchell of Dakota, son-in-law Dennis Buss of Dakota, and sister-in-law Janet Kloepping of Freeport.  Eight grandchildren, Doug (Nina) Buss, Diane Buss, Kathy (Greg) Davis, Kimberlee (Kerry) Thomas, Debbie McLain, Timothy Wilson, Matthew (Stephanie) Mitchell, and Annie (Blaine) Stamm.  Thirteen great grandchildren, Leah and Dillon Buss, Michael, Andrew, and Ellyn Davis, Ryan (Danielle) Thomas, Justin Thomas, Amber (Neil) Nelson, Aaliyah Anderson (Fiancé’ Keegen Hodges) Jacob and Mya Mitchell, and Madasyn and Molli Stamm.  Eight great-great grandchildren RaeLynn, Maevynn, and Beau Cornelson, Mason, Logan, and Laine Thomas, and Autumn and Neelian Nelson. 

 

She was proceeded in death by three brothers John “Jack” (Evelyn), Delbert (Wilma), and Gilbert Kloepping.  Two sisters, Vera (Herman) Notter, and Lucille (Rodney) Arnsmeier.  One sister-in-Law Carol (Orville) Obert. One brother-in-law Pete (Evelyn) Zink.  Daughter Cindy Buss, and Granddaughter Kristin Buss. 

Services will be held Tuesday, February 24th, at Afolkey Grace EC Church in Afolkey at 11 am with Pastor Matt Mitchell officiating.  Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service.  Helen is laid to rest next to Nobel, in the Afolkey Cemetery.  A Memorial Fund has been established for Rock River Bible Camp, Dixon, Illinois.
