Hans “Pete” McGrath, age 77, of Monroe passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the SSM Health Hospital in Monroe.  He was born on February 19, 1947 the son of William and Johanna (Rab) McGrath in Germany.  He graduated from high school in Oklahoma.  Pete proudly served in the United States Army.  On March 19, 1975 Pete married Charlene Clewley in Colorado Springs. 

Pete worked as a machine operator for Kelly Springfield for 30 years.  He was a member of the Monroe American Legion and the VFW.  He was formerly on the fire department and EMS in Shullsburg for many years.  He enjoyed hunting, coffee group, and spending time with his family. 

Pete is survived by his wife, Charlene; children, Angela (Matt) Sandlin of Shullsburg, Eric McGrath of Mineral Point, Joshua McGrath of Jamestown, NY, Robby McGrath of Monroe, and Darci (Chris) Padulla of Monroe; grandchildren, Alex, Kiera, Nevada, Aletris, Kayley, Hans, and Cordell; and siblings, Robert (Jeanne) McGrath of Nacogdoches, TX and Cheryl McGrath of Jamestown, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Helen King.

A Celebration of Pete’s Life will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Noon, with Military Honors following.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
