Gerald O. Paulson, age 91 of Wiota, WI passed away peacefully on Friday, September 17, 2021 surrounded by his family on the home farm. He was born June 27, 1930 in Blanchardville Township in Lafayette County, WI the son of James O. and Lillie (Carpenter) Paulson. Gerald grew up in the Gratiot area where he graduated from Gratiot High School after which he worked for Ganshert Electric and drove school bus for a short time. Following his parent his parent’s retirement he took the family farm over. On Thanksgiving Day 1953, he married his best friend, Joyce A. Gille at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gratiot and they farmed together on the river bottom for 37 years.

Gerald is survived by his wife Joyce at home; his children: John Paulson of Wiota, JoAnne (Kirt) Leuenberger of Monroe, WI, Jayne (Henry) Seffrood of South Wayne, WI, and Jaren (Wanda) Paulson of Gratiot; his grandchildren: Mindy (Travis) Stauffacher, Todd (Angie) Seffrood, Dustin (Elyse) Leuenberger, Kateri Leuenberger, Jamie Paulson, and Justine Paulson; and his great-grandchildren: Morgan, Macie, and Kayden Stauffacher, Zane, Eliana, Iva, Levi, and Alizah Seffrood, Kyle (Chelsea) Stauffacher, and Tara (Barry) Junk.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Clinton Paulson and James Paulson; and one sister-in-law: Patsy Gille.

Gerald was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Lafayette County Antique Club. Along with farming, Gerald was the local machinery repair man, and worked for 30 years for McCulloch Chain Saw Dealer. He also drove vehicles for Monroe Truck Equipment for 23 years, retiring at age 83. His travels took him all over the United States – Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio just to name a few. In Wiota he was known as the mayor – always keeping the neighbor’s lawn mowers in repair.

He cherished the time he spent with his family – especially his grandchildren creating memories they will all remember forever. Gerald will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 27, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gratiot with Rev. Peter Lee officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, September 27, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
