Gary Lee Lehr, age 83, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Mercy Hospital, Janesville. Gary was born August 28, 1941 in Monroe, Wisconsin, the son of Ernest and Ruth (Burgesser) Lehr. Ruth passed away at Gary’s birth. Ernie later married Helen (Munz) who raised Gary as her son. Gary married “the love of his life,” Norma Swett, on October 21, 1961. Gary graduated from Juda High School in 1959. He owned and operated Union Hill Cheese Factory. He then worked for 32 years at General Motors. Gary was in the Army Reserves. He enjoyed playing softball, golf and cards (he loved to give instructions on playing cards). He was an avid Badger Fan! Gary also loved animals, especially his cats. He loved spending summer time at their trailer in Seven Eagles Resort, Savanna, Illinois.

 Survivors include his wife: Norma; children: Jeff, Janesville, Brian (Sharon), Waukesha, and Kimberly (Wade) Boegli, Brodhead; grandchildren: Steven (Rachel) Lehr, Jenna (Tami) Magner, Brittany Garvin, Brandon Lehr, Mykenzie (Dustin) Ritschard and Haley (Josh) Okpako; 9 great grandchildren; sisters: Karen Zimmerman and Donna Newman; sister-in-law: Jeanine Swett; and many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his father, birth mother and mom who raised him; brothers-in-law, Chet Newman, Brad Zimmerman, Jerry Swett; and sisters-in-law, Hazel (Marvin) Diestelmeier, Betty (Melvin) Traum and Jeanne Harris.

 Funeral services will be held at Newcomer-Silverthorn Chapel on the Hill, 3008 S Coon Island Road, Orfordville at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. “Feel free to wear WISCONSIN BADGER gear in honor of one of their biggest FANS!” Private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice. The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice for the compassionate care.
