Franklin A. Potter, age 83 of Browntown, died Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. He was born on August 24, 1935 in Martintown, the son of Frank and Elsie (Brown) Potter. He attended Cadiz and Gage Schools, and graduated from Winslow High School in 1953. Frank married Glenda B. Albright on November 14, 1953 in rural Winslow, Illinois by Rev. Roy Berg. Franklin worked at Dearth Motors, Gempler Tire Shop. They went farming at 3 farms around South Wayne and Winslow. He had his own business, Blackhawk Trucking and sold Super Sweet feed at rural Browntown, then drove gas truck for Bowen Oil Company, then drove semi for Green County Express at Lena, and last before retiring drove semi for Swiss Colony.

Franklin and Glenda celebrated 65 years of marriage. They took many trips to the state of Washington, Mesa, AZ, Mississippi, Branson, Nashville and Dolly Wood. Enjoyed Country music and old-time music, the Greg Anderson Band. He liked to play cards, Wahoo, Dominos, and eating out. He was a member of Martintown Community Church for 60 years. He’s now a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Lena. He also enjoyed working at the Thrift store at Lena and the last few years he mowed the Garden Path in Browntown, at the corner of Hwy 11 and County M.

He is survived by his wife Glenda; 4 children: Terry Aurand of Warren, IL, Dennis (Kathy) Potter of Monroe, Donald (Darlene) Potter of Winslow, and Lora (Greg) Gutzmer of Kennewick, WA; grandchildren: Dustin (Alicia) Sigafus, Jeremy (Jackie) Sigafus, Mandy (Aurand) Brooker, Ben Aurand, Josh (Leah Weiman) Potter, Jason Potter, Robert (Michele) Chumbler, Blake Chumbler, Brandon (April Bolton) Potter, James Gutzmer, Jessica (Nick) Suitonu, Le Ann (Will) Touchette; great grandchildren: Addison, Evan and Layla Sigafus, Kaylee , Zoey, Josie, and Zachery Brooker, Anna and Alyssa Potter. Brett Heller. Brenton and Daylan Chumbler, Raia and Keegan Potter, Kassadi and Kayden Suitonu, Landen and Eastyn Touchette. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, sister, Nada (Hanson) Meyers; brother-in-laws, Art “Bud” Hanson, Ed Meyers, Dennis Sigafus; baby Sigafus, son, Daniel Lee Potter, granddaughter, Michelle Aurand; and aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday July 12, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lena, IL with Reverend Rich Bader officiating. Burial will be in Saucerman cemetery, at a later date. A visitation will be held Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the church. SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home is assisting the family.
