Evelyn Irene Larson, age 77 of Wiota, WI, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019, at the Lafayette Manor in Darlington, WI with her husband by her side. She was born December 7, 1941 in Darlington, the daughter of Howard and Esther (Moen) Hale. Evelyn graduated from Darlington High School in 1959 and then attended the Madison School of Cosmetology. She was united in marriage to Richard Larson on December 10, 1960 at the Fayette Methodist Church in Fayette, WI. Evelyn and Richard then moved to the family farm in rural South Wayne where she and Richard farmed together. Along with farming, Evelyn worked in beauty shops in both South Wayne and Monroe, WI.
Evelyn is survived by her husband: Richard Larson at home; her two children: Randy (Tammy) Larson of Wiota, Doreen (Dan) Athnos of La Crosse, WI; ten grandchildren: Joe (Jessica) Martin, Elise and Lauryn Wenberg, Kaitlyn and Megan Larson, Christie (Dustin) Lindberg, Courtney (Michael Gonzalez) Athnos , Asher, Abbie, and Ally Athnos; six great-grandchildren: Ava, Maycee , Laylaa , and Bryson Martin; Kinsley and Blakely Lindberg ; one brother: Dennis Hale of Janesville, WI; one brother-in-law: Robert Larson of Wiota; and one sister-in-law: Evelyn Marie Larson of Monroe, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister: Betty Hermanson; three brothers-in-law: Charles Hermanson, Donald Larson, and Wesley Larson; two sisters-in-law: Kathryn Larson and Teri Hale; one grandson: Nathan Larson; one nephew: Chuck Hermanson; and one niece: Connie Hermanson.
Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who had an incredible outlook on life while enduring her fifty-two-year battle with MS. She was a 4H leader, Sunday School teacher, and a member of the Wiota Auxiliary. Evelyn also enjoyed being a part of card club. Evelyn was a member of the Wiota Lutheran Church and its WELCA. Evelyn will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at 11:00 AM at the Wiota Lutheran Church (6682 STH 78, South Wayne) with Rev. Traci Maas officiating. Burial will be at West Wiota Lutheran Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the church and on Wednesday Oct. 16, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM.
