Emma (Willborn) Wenger was the tenth of twelve children born to Ernst and Paulina (Sturzengger) Willborn. She was born in Mineral Point, WI on July 28, 1928. Emma lived in many places in her growing years because her mother died when Emma was three and her father died when she was nine. She lived most of her adult life in Argyle before moving to Boise, ID a couple of years ago. She was married on November 29, 1947 to Robert B. Wenger. They operated the Argyle Gamble Store beginning in 1949 until Robert’s death in 1986. The store was then owned by their son, Kirk, where Emma continued to work.
Robert and Emma were very active in Argyle events and organizations. She enjoyed her roles at Argyle’s Annual Fish Fry in preparing the limburger cheese and assisting with the making of the coleslaw. She was the last surviving original owner of the Norseman Supper Club.
Emma is survived by her five children Jay (Dona) Wenger, San Antonio, TX; Allen (Kris) Wenger, Boise, ID; Paula (Lloyd) Tarrell, Fennimore, WI; Kirk (Gayle) Wenger, Argyle, WI; and Annette (Rick) Wenger, Monroe, WI. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren Jennifer (Timothy) Kaurich, Jason (Lissette) Wenger, Adam (Monica) Wenger, Alex Wenger, Emma (Julian) Baden, Pete (Vic) Tarrell, Rob (Christina) Tarrell, Chris Tarrell, Matt (Heidi) Ganshert, Ryan (Katie) Ganshert, Brett (Mackenzie) Wenger, Ryan Webster, Jerod (Josie) Webster, and Wyatt (Nichole) Webster. She is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Emma is survived by the youngest of her siblings, John “Johnny” Willborn, Mt. Horeb, WI, and many nephews and nieces.
Emma is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, and her ten siblings Ernest “Ernie” Willborn, Hulda Disrud, Richard Willborn, Lena Ligman, Rudolph “Rudy” Willborn, William “Willie” Willborn, Alice Gerber, Lester Willborn, Herman Willborn, and Patty Jacobson.
She will be dearly missed. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
