Elvy M. Weiss, age 96, went peacefully to her Heavenly home on March 27, 2025. Mom was born in Plain, WI on April 20, 1928, the daughter of Raymond and Emma Ring. Mom married Wilfred (Bill) Weiss on June 24, 1947. Dad passed away on Sept. 2, 2006.
Mom was a dedicated member of St. Luke Catholic Church, its Council of Catholic Women circle, American Legion Auxiliary, Reedsburg and Plain Golf Clubs. She was a volunteer for community events including being an election official.
Mom is survived by her children, Linda Goley, Pat (Steve) Bowdish, LaVonne (Andy) Anderson, Bill (Connie) Weiss, Dorothy Hill, Terry (Sheila) Weiss; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Weiss; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; her brother John (Jack) Shirley Ring; sisters, Charlotte Dischler and Audray (Walter) Gerber. Mom is predeceased by her husband, Bill; her son, Gary; her grandson, Michael Hill; her sons-in-law, John Goley and John Hill; her parents, Ray and Emma Ring; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Caroline (Ed) Weiss, Bernice (Harold) Weber, Alice Loy Swinehart (Bob Loy, Sam Swinehart, Pat Swinehart), Clete (Anne Marie) Ring, Delmar (Joan) Ring and John Dischler.
Mom was a prayerful, loving, and creative lady. The most important job to mom, was being a homemaker. Dad and Mom started Weiss Oil Co. in 1954. She was the perfect secretary for their business. Mom was a cook and baker extraordinaire always making plates to share with family and friends. She found great joy in sending greeting cards to anybody and everybody, and always looked forward to her coffee and shopping outings.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Waunakee Valley Senior Living, St. Mary’s Hospital, Sauk Prairie Hospital, Plain EMS, and River Valley Clinic for all of the wonderful care and love given to our mother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday April 7, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Plain, WI with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. Memorials given in mon’s name will be distributed to her favorite charities.
