Elmer A. Ross, age 87 passed from the arms of his family to the arms of his Savior on Thursday, February 12, 2026. He was born on June 11, 1938 a son of Arlie and Bernice (Lange) Ross. Elmer graduated from Albany High School in 1956 where he was an accomplished basketball player earning all-conference and all-district honors in addition to holding the career scoring record for many years. Elmer recalled the fun of playing with the team and their shared success especially when he was inducted into the Albany Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021. On March 29, 1957 he was united in marriage to Marie Henshue at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Elmer would spend his life working the soil and faithfully caring for his family, including watching his grandchildren play their sports. He also enjoyed following the Cubs as a life-long fan. Throughout his life Elmer invested his life in farming, family, and the church.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Marie Ross, children Forrest Ross and Sheryl (Bruce) Martinson, grandchildren Ryan (Momachi) Martinson, Kyle Martinson, Alyssa Martinson, Austin Ross, Logan (Andrea) Ross, and Nathaniel Ross, and a great-grandchild Zen Martinson. He is further survived by a brother Darrell Ross, nephew Aaron Ross, and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a beloved son, Ryan.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Hillcrest Bible Church, 752 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, WI.
A gathering of relatives and friends will precede the memorial service from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Hillcrest Bible Church, 752 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, WI.
Inurnment will be in the Peace Cemetery, rural Brooklyn, WI.
