MONROE – Eleanor J. Klassy, age 89 passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on February 7, 1931 the daughter of Guy and Ferne (Wunschel) Weckerly in the Town of Wiota, Lafayette County, WI. On June 7, 1949 she was united in marriage to Marvin P. Klassy at the First United Methodist Church in Monroe. Eleanor and Marvin farmed on the Klassy home farm outside of New Glarus, WI until retiring in 1981 when they moved to Monticello, WI. Eleanor enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, and family get-togethers. She was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary #2604.
Eleanor is survived by her brothers Ralph Weckerly and Alan Weckerly, sisters Ann Stuessy, Gloria Ruskell, and Patsy LaBorde, many nieces & nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, and brother Byron Weckerly.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery in New Glarus.
A visitation will precede the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus. Please follow current mask and social distancing guidelines.
