Dr. Eugene Ross Wagner, 86, a resident of Cleveland, TN., passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 in a local hospital. Dr. Wagner was born in Monroe, Wisconsin and he was the son of the late Dorothy Selck Wagner and Harold Wagner. His brother, Wayne Owen Wagner also preceded him in death. He graduated High School in Monroe, Wisconsin and he received his Bachelor Degrees and his Doctorate all in Chemistry from University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Wagner spent his entire career working for DOW Chemical as a Chemist with over 30 years of service. He was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church where he held numerous roles including, Lay Leader, Administrative Council Chair, Sunday School Teacher, Staff Parish Member, Church Newsletter Editor and he also served in many benevolent ministries. He enjoyed cement sculpturing and he was an artist/painter. He also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles and playing corn hole. Dr. Wagner was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Marie Daley Wagner, Cleveland, daughter, Amy Beth Wagner Gillum (Lawrence Eugene), Lake Villa, Illinois, son, Reverend Paul Eugene Wagner (Roberta Anne), Benton, Tennessee, grandchildren, Eric Eugene Gillum (Christina), Tasha Valls (Carlos), Madison Moore (Daniel), Gwendolyn Drake (Matt), Nathan Dugger (Brittney), 7 great grandchildren, 2 nephews, 3 nieces and several great nephews and great nieces.
The Remembrance of Life Memorial Service will be conducted at Broad Street United Methodist Church at May 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
