Dorothy Jane Meyers

Dorothy Jane Meyers, age 83 of Monroe passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at home after several battles with cancer over the past ten years.  She was born on September 14, 1939 in South Wayne, WI to Frank and Blanche (Curran) Crotty.  Dorothy graduated from South Wayne High school in 1958 and married Dale Meyers on September 22, 1962.

Dorothy worked at Monroe Clinic, provided child care, and did private and commercial cleaning during her lifetime.  She and Dale devoted considerable time to St. Victor’s Parish and the Apostolate to the Handicapped over the years.  Her Catholic faith was an incredibly important part of her beautiful life.

A kind and giving soul who dedicated her life to her faith and family, Dorothy made everyone feel loved and welcomed.  She was quick to strike up conversations with strangers and enjoyed having friends over for a warm cup of coffee.  Dorothy was fiercely loyal to the people she loved.  She was incredibly proud of her Irish heritage and was blessed with the gift of gab.  Her humor and wit kept everyone laughing and full of joy right until the end, making her passing easier on all who loved her.  She loved baking, creating, reading, solving puzzles, enjoying little shopping excursions, time with her grandchildren, and connecting with people on the phone.  More than anything, she simply loved having fun and being in the presence of others.  Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her.

Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Kelly (Amy) of Madison, Kurt (Niki) of Middleton, Kent (Kim) of Monroe, Kara Jo (Mike) of Black Earth; beloved grandchildren, Mack, Luci, Anja, Ben, and Finn; brother, James (JoAnne) Crotty of South Wayne; sisters, Betty Blum and Polly (Bernie) Whalen of Monroe; brother-in-law, Roger Zimmerman of Monroe; and sister-in-law, Jane Crotty of South Wayne.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Francis and John Crotty; sisters, Anna Mae McDonald, Therese Figi, Joan Figi, and Jean Zimmerman; and her husband, Dale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 9, 2022 at Noon at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic church with celebrant Tafadzwa Kushamba officiating.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
