Donna Marie (Krebs) Ellingson, age 86, of Monroe passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Azura Memory Care. She was born the daughter of Robert and Marie (Swanson) Krebs on September 3, 1938 in Cadiz Township. She attended grade school in Wiota and was a graduate of South Wayne High School; she also later earned her degree from Madison Business College. Donna was united in marriage to Terry Ellingson on August 17, 1957 at West Wiota Lutheran Church.
Donna served as a bookkeeper during her working career, she dedicated many years to: the John Deere Dealership in Freeport, Kuhne Construction Company, Peters & Peters CPA Firm, Benning CPA Firm, and Rock Solid Concrete.
Throughout her life, Donna lived in Woodford, Orangeville, IL and Monroe. She served two terms on the Monroe City Council; she also served on the board for the Monroe Housing Authority. Mom was known for having chocolate chip cookies ready whenever someone stopped by.
Donna is survived by her children, Mark (Lori) Ellingson of Pella, IA, Marcia (Tom) Wells of Ridott, IL, Myron (Jean Rufenacht) Ellingson of Monroe, and Mindy (Ben Schoepski) Jacobson of Monroe; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Larry (Pat) Krebs of Waupaca, Wayne (Joanne) Krebs of Gratiot, Jeffrey Krebs of Sun Prairie and several nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Blake Ellingson; great-granddaughter, Brynn Wells; infant brother, Dennis Krebs and niece, Rhonda Krebs.
Burial will take place Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 9:30 AM at Union Cemetery in South Wayne. Following the burial friends and family may gather to Celebrate Donna’s Life on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Luncheon to follow in the church hall.
Memorials may be made to either the Green County Humane Society or Equine Empowerment at County View Equestrian Center in Donna’s memory.
