Donald G. “Buck” Douglas, age 79 of Darlington, WI passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 at UW-Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born June 8, 1939 in Monroe, WI the son of Alpha and Hattie (Mayne) Douglas. Buck was united in marriage to Pauline “Polly” Simmons on August 8, 1968 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Darlington. He farmed from 1953 until 1972 when he began working at Calamine Cheese Factory from 1972-1977. Buck then worked for the City of Darlington from 1977 until he retired in 2002.

Buck is survived by his wife Polly at home; his children: Sheila (Doug) Kelly and Scott (Lori) Douglas both of Darlington; his step-sons: Allen “Butch” (Anne) Douglas of Mineral Point, WI and Ric (Donna) Douglas of Darlington; grandchildren: Alex (Trisha) Douglas, Dana (Brandon) Poad, Abby Douglas, Dylan (Kayla) Douglas, Harley Douglas, Andrew Kelly, Gina Douglas, Hannah Kelly, and Matthew Douglas; his great-grandchildren: Tucker, Dawson, and Wheelar Douglas, Kelsey Douglas, Evan Komprood, Brinley, Avery, and Greyson Poad; his siblings: Harold (Barb) Douglas of Darlington, Robert (Marilyn) Douglas of Mukwonago, WI,  Doris (Ralph) Merriam of rural Darlington, his twin sister: Donna (Roger) Hoesly of Monroe, WI, Patsy (Delbert) Steiner of rural Darlington, and Gary Douglas of Darlington; a sister in-law: Virginia Douglas of Darlington, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Albert Douglas and Richard Douglas; two sisters: Shirley Douglas and Darlene Douglas in infancy; one grandson: Aric A. Douglas; two sisters-in-law: Marge Douglas and Shirley Simmons; and one brother-in-law: Keith Simmons.

Buck was a member of Darlington United Methodist Church in Darlington. He cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and the memories he had of supporting them during any of their events. Buck enjoyed going to auctions, harness horse racing, playing cards and marbles, and unlike most, always liked to mow grass and shovel snow. He was an avid sports fan and always cheered for the Darlington Redbirds, Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Chicago Bears. Buck will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Monday, February 11, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church (15691 County Road K, Darlington) with Rev. Angela Utter of Darlington United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St., Darlington) and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church.
