Delbert J. Kundert, age 96, of Monroe passed away on June 3, 2021 at his home at St. John’s Garden Apartments. He was born October 16, 1924 in Monroe to Fred and Ella (Rothenbuehler) Kundert. He attended Blackford Country School and Monroe High School. He lived on the home farm in Jordan Township from birth and then purchased the farm from his parents after his marriage to Gudrun Lien in 1945. They farmed there 26 years. He retired from farming and worked for Green County Soil Conservation as a soil technician for 20 years. He was named the Outstanding Land Conservation Employee for 1987 during the annual meeting of the Wisconsin Association of Land Conservation Employers. He was one of the first landowners in the county to apply conservation practices on his farm.
He worked for Doral Johnson driving cab for five years and when Doral retired, he worked for Monroe Truck for ten years and retired at the age of 83.
He was a confirmed member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and an active member of the Moose Lodge #754 for many years. His genuine concern for others, his passion to help out wherever needed, and his pleasant good-natured personality earned him many good friends throughout the years.
He was a sport enthusiast, playing slow pitch and loved attending ball games, especially when his children and grandchildren played. He enjoyed playing Euchre with his friends.
Delbert and Gudrun were blessed with two sons, Larry (Dianne) Kundert, John A (Jean) Kundert, two daughters Marcia (Dennis) Davis, JoAnn (Andrew) Eberle. They also have 11 grandchildren, Michelle (Fred) Kelley, Joe (special friend, Kim) Kundert, Brent (Kim) Kundert, Robin (Brett) Apold, Russell (Susan) Davis, Daniel (Tami) Eberle, Andrea (Robert) Jenson, Ryan (Christine) Eberle, Jason (Mandy) Kundert, Jeff (Amy) Kundert, Jim (Diana) Kundert, and 17 great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; his daughter, Marcia Davis; and brothers, Roy and Arlie Kundert.
He is survived by his wife, Gudrun; and three children, Larry (Dianne) Kundert, John A (Jean) Kundert, JoAnn (Andrew) Eberle; sisters-in-law, Eldora Kundert, Gunvar Haesler, Alice Voegeli, brother-in-law, Clair (JoAnn) Lien; as well as all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Private Family Funeral Service will be held. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Delbert's name. Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
