Declan Nathaniel Sisson
Declan Nathaniel Sisson

Declan Nathaniel Sisson finished his battle with cancer and entered eternity on June 9, 2025. He was born on March 9, 2021 to Nathaniel and Megan Pollock Sisson in Monroe, Wisconsin. In his short time here, Declan’s sweetness, humor, and loving heart radiated brightly & touched the souls of many.

Declan fought four tumors in his life. He endured four bone marrow transplants, and lived for four years. He contributed to pediatric cancer research by participating in three different clinical trials in his family’s quest for a cure. Declan was brave and strong, and although his body knew suffering, his spirit remained steadfastly hopeful and optimistic. He accepted the challenges that life handed him with endearing spunk and gratefulness for each happy day.

Declan was yellow in all of its shades: dandelion, honey, sand, school bus, and sunshine. He collected sticks, celebrated every passing garbage truck, and deeply loved the moon. Declan’s favorite things included: exploring outside, art projects, farm animals, bubbles, bacon, excavators, watching Little Bear, and visiting with family. He was an avid reader of books, and wore his Cow & Pig socks at every opportunity. His greatest delights were playing with daddy and snuggling his mama.

Along with his parents, Declan leaves behind beloved grandparents Jim and Sherry Pollock, Ken Sisson, Great-Grandma Doris Werrline, and devoted uncles, aunts, and cousins: Jared and Anne Wells (Ella, Sophia, Jackson, Josephine, Lincoln), Jacob and Emily Dubie (Eva), Blake and Amanda Pollock (Esme), Sadie, Daniel, and Stephanie Pollock, Andrew and Phiona Sisson (Joshua, Luke), Kyle and Gretchen Phillips (Alaina, Stephen, James, Kaitrin, Seth, Hanneli), Tim and Haley Bryson (Noah), Matthew and Hannah Sisson. He joins his grandmother Jeri Sisson and cousin Asher Phillips in eternity, where “there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain”.

Additionally, Declan leaves behind a loving extended family, medical providers who cared for him fiercely, an army of prayer warriors who supported him through every up and down of his journey, and a band of stuffed animals who comforted him through countless hospital stays: Bob, Hotdog, Cuddle Bear, and Bingo.

Declan slipped from this life into the next at home, surrounded by family and familiar comforts. He sweetened the world in his brief time here with his courage, compassion, and joy.

“If love could have healed him, he would have lived forever”.
