Dean F. Flannery, age 85 of Argyle, WI passed away with his family by his side on May 15, 2020 at his home. He was born February 23, 1935 in Jordan Township in Green County, Wisconsin the son of Floyd and Nora (Hyland) Flannery. He graduated from Argyle High School in 1952. Dean spent two years in the Army as a medic from February of 1956 – February 1958. He began farming after his discharge and on April 30, 1960 he was united in marriage to Janet Berget on at St. John’s Catholic Church in South Wayne, WI. He and Janet farmed until 1993 when they retired to Argyle. Dean drove a special education van for Argyle School District from 1994 – 2009, worked as an adjuster for crop insurance from 2004-2017, and was a director and agent for Clarno Mutual Insurance in Monroe from 1997-2017.

Dean is survived by his wife Janet at home; two sons: Michael Flannery of Dodgeville, WI, and Mark Flannery of Argyle; two grandsons: Derek Flannery and Mitchell Flannery both of Argyle; one brother: Roger (Phyllis) Flannery; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brother-in-laws: James Flannery and Ralph Wilhelmson, one daughter-in-law: Rebecca Flannery; and one sister: Audrey Wilhelmson.

Dean was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Argyle and the Argyle American Legion Post 251. He enjoyed spending time with his family, driving his “58” Ford and Dad and Mom’s “67” Buick, helping Kevin Beckman on the farms for 20 years, attending his grandsons ball games and watching the Packers.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic a private family funeral service will be held at the Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery following the service. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.

The family would like to thank South West Health and Agrace Hospice Care for the tender love and care that they gave to Dean.
