David “Dave” Alan Brommer
David “Dave” Alan Brommer

David “Dave” Alan Brommer called “Brommer” by his friends, age 77, of Monroe passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the New Glarus Home, surrounded by his family. He was born the son of Orvin and Lois (DeFries) Brommer on June 24, 1947 in Chicago, IL. Dave attended grade school in Chicago, IL until his family moved to the Monroe area in the early 60’s; he was a 1965 graduate of Monroe High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. Dave was united in marriage to Mary Holz on February 14, 1969 in Rockford, IL.

After returning from the service Dave began working for Moore Business Forms, now known as RRD. He started just two days after being discharged from the Army in 1968 and continued working there until his retirement in 2010. He worked for Moore as a third-shift Supervisor and later as a Group Leader on first-shift.  After retiring, he worked for Ruda Chevrolet Toyota in Monroe part-time as a driver.

Dave loved riding his Harley Davidson with his wife, Mary, driving his 1987 Buick Grand National and taking trips with his wife, Mary and their friends. Together they took trips throughout the U.S. on his bike; they also enjoyed many vacations to the Caribbean, Mexico, and cruises.  Above all else Dave enjoyed being with his family whom he dearly loved; and who dearly loved him. Dave will always be remembered for his big smile, infectious laugh, sharp wit, and great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

Dave is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary; children, Alan Brommer and Traci (Tracy Bear) Brommer all of Monroe; grandchildren, Tyler (Samantha Schaller) Brommer of Chicago, Tara (Gidian Brunges) Brommer of McFarland, Alayna and Danica Zimmerman both of Monroe; and his cat, Remi; as well as many extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orvin and Lois Brommer; his father and mother-in-law, Ernie and Alice Holz; his brother-in-law, Bill Holz; and nephew, Jeff Holz.

Per Dave’s wishes no formal services will be held. Memorials may be made to the UW Cancer Center at supportuw.org or checks can be mailed to Development, 600 Highland Ave MC 9945, Madison, WI 53792.  Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
