Darrell W Busjahn
Darrell W Busjahn

Darrell W Busjahn, age 91, of Orangeville entered into his eternal home Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Monroe Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family. Born February 21, 1933 to Elmer and Edna (Obert) Busjahn on their farm in Orangeville, IL.

Darrell happily spent his whole life on the family farm. He was a 1950 graduate of Orangeville High School. Darrell married Lorraine Kienzle on July 21, 1957 at the First United Methodist Church in Galena, IL after being pen-pals with her while serving our country in the U.S. Army. She made the farm an even happier place for him. The couple spent many wonderful years working on the family dairy farm and raising their children until their semi-retirement in 2001. They built a wonderful life there through their blood, sweat, and tears. Darrell will fondly be remembered for his generous spirit and quick wit. The laughter and joy he brought into the world was certainly good medicine for all around. His wisdom on the farm and life in general will be missed by all who knew him.

Darrell is survived by his four children, Sandra (Ed) Smith of Pecatonica, IL, Allen Busjahn, Arlen (Colleen) Busjahn, and Lori (Josef) Scherer all of Orangeville, IL; seven grandchildren, Corine (Andrew) Peplinski, Melissa Scherer, Julie (Shane) Littel, Katy (James) Stuart, Matt (Lisa) Busjahn, Adam (Brooks) Scherer, and Carrie (Seth) Carroll; twelve great-grandchildren, Karsen & Owen Henneman, Ivy, Jaxsyn & Myles Littel, Kinzlee, Silas, Huckson, Claydon & Ellaree Carroll, Walter Stuart, and Oliver Peplinski.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine; brother-in-law, Raymond Kienzle; sister-in-law, Janette Bader; and grandson, Kurt Busjahn who passed away in infancy. The family would like to thank Everlena of Comfort Keepers, and the Monroe Hospice Home for their exceptional kindness and care.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe, WI, with the Rev. John Tabaka officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport, IL.
