Daniel “Jake” Jacobs, age 68, of Monroe passed away on Wednesday, August 09, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born the son of Lee and Alyce (Cunningham) Jacobs on July 12, 1955 in Monroe. He was a graduate of Monroe High School. Jake was united in marriage to Dianna Albertson on September 25, 1976; together they had one son, Joshua John, they later divorced. Jake then met Dixie Hoover and they shared 35 years of companionship, until her passing in 2018.
Jake worked for Schrenk Brothers Roofing for several years, he later worked with his brother-in-law at Green County Locker, and he finished his working career with Fleet Services at the Monroe Municipal Airport. He was an excellent cook and could make leftovers into a wonderful new dish, but he never remembered to write down any creative recipes. Jake was a private person and kept his circle small and his daily routine consistent.
Jake had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing. He enjoyed watching all the wildlife in the woods or his backyard. He also liked painting and grilling out. On many occasions he could be found in the kitchen listening and dancing to “the oldies” with Dixie, their family and friends; which was usually followed by a campfire in the backyard.
Jake is survived by his son, Josh (Ashley Keller) Jacobs ; step-daughter, Tammie (Jim Bandt) Smiley; brother, John (Mary) Jacobs; sister, Julie (Rich “Radar”) Coplien; grandchildren, Stephanie (Brandon) Frontz and Christopher (Sierra Radcliffe) Smiley; one great-grandchild, Marlie Frontz; as well as nieces, nephews, and several dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; and the love of his life, Dixie.
A Celebration of Jake’s Life will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Nett’s Sports Bar in Monroe.
Jake’s family would like to extend a special Thank You to his niece, Brenda Jacobs and her partner Dale Carolan for their years of extra support, not only as family but also close friends.
