Daniel Clemmerson, 80, of Sparta, died Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. He was born July 1st, 1937 to Oscar and Elise Clemmerson of Cataract, WI. Dan grew up on a farm and attended Printz Creek School and eventually moved to Dodgeville and worked on a farm. Dan went into nursing where he met and married the love of his life, Laverne from there they moved to Monroe. Dan found his niche working for Walmart as a greeter something that he loved doing.
Dan enjoyed gardening notably flowers from seed and was very good at it, winning many blue ribbons. When Laverne’s health began to decline they moved to Woodruff, WI to be closer to their daughter Kathie. Dan transferred to the local Minocqua Walmart where continued to bring joy to many. When Dan’s health also started to decline they moved to Tomahawk, WI. When Laverne passed away in 2008 Dan was very lonely so he decided to move back home to Sparta. Dan then made his home at Morrow where continued to bring joy to many guests and residents as a greeter at the Morrow Home until he went home to be with his sweetheart in eternal life.
Dan is survived by his step daughter, Kathie Wilcox, of Woodruff; 4 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Rebecca Shafer, of Sparta; Lois Hughes, of Black River Halls; and Donna (Frank) Rowle, of Black River Falls; three brothers, Peter (Darlene) of Sparta; Robert of Merrillan, and Donald (Victoria) of Warrens.
He was preceded in death by Ronald, Douglas, Aaron, Simon, Sam, Barbara, and Elizabeth.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Roberta Nowicki officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Union Cemetery, Shamrock.
