Curtis D. Leuzinger

Curtis D. Leuzinger, age 71, of Monroe passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the UW Hospital in Madison, with his family by his side. He was born the son of Henry and Alice (Crooks) Leuzinger on January 29, 1953 in Monroe.  He graduated from Monroe High School in 1971. Curt was united in marriage to Kathleen Noble on June 19, 1971 at St. John’s United Church of Christ.

Curt worked for Sentry Foods for over 30 years starting in Monroe as the Produce Manager until the store closed, he then transferred to the Janesville store where he worked until his retirement. Curt was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed cheering on the Badgers, Brewers, and Packers.  He could be found outside playing basketball or teaching the younger generation the finer points of baseball, pitching and hitting.  He coached teams from little league to high school, umpired games, and organized numerous tournaments and summer leagues. His pride in coaching extended to his own children and grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to support them from the sidelines.

In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and tending to his garden. He cherished the simple pleasure of going for drives with his friends Richard Wuebben and Frank Dillon, reminiscing about the old days.  He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and infectious laugh.

Holidays held a special place in Curt's heart, with Christmas being his favorite. He delighted in the tradition of watching Hallmark Christmas movies, a pastime that brought him immense joy. Above all, Curt's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored more than anything.

Curt is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Kathy of Monroe; children, Curtis T. (Kari) Leuzinger of Monroe and Wendy (Jayson Haldiman) Saxby-Bansley of South Wayne; grandchildren, Courtney, Curtis Jordan “CJ”, and Natalie Leuzinger all of Madison, Sean (Lorrain Hahn) Saxby of Phoenix, AZ, Nick (Alexa Marty), Savanna and Marissa Bansley all of Monroe; brothers, Richard (Sue) Leuzinger, Tom (Laurie) Leuzinger both of Monroe; and sisters, Margaret O’Kane of Madison, Susan Jacobson of Onalaska and Mary (Dennis) Kennedy of Evansville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Victor in infancy; sisters, Ruth Kampfer, and Barbara (Milo) Whitehead; brothers-in-law, Mark Jacobson, Jack Kennedy and Robert O’ Kane.
