Cheryl Ann Mize (Flannery), age 75 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, November 24, 2022. Cheryl was born on July 30, 1947, to John Jr. and Fola (Andrews) Flannery, in Monroe, Wisconsin. She attended Dry Box Elementary and graduated from Argyle High School in 1966. She married Carl Mize on April 27, 1968, and they had 3 daughters. She began working at the St. Clare Hospital when she was 16 years old as a candy striper and continued working in the healthcare field becoming a nurse in 1997 until she retired in 2015. Cheryl did homecare after retiring and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the people that she helped.

Cheryl is survived by three daughters: Cathy Jo (John) Leigh of Argyle, Cheri Lyn (Jim) Riddle of Monroe and Cari Ann (Jim) Starr of Argyle; seven grandchildren: Rhett (Chelsea Gruber) Starr, Rylee (Jess Hansen) Mellenberger, Carter (Haliey McIntosh) Starr, Alexis (Travis Dammen) Leigh, Chesney Leigh, Laney and Jace Starr; two sisters: Barbara (Paul) Krattiger of Brodhead, WI and Beatrice (Leo) Patterson of Juda, WI; three brothers: Larry (Andi) Flannery of Argyle, Terry (Melanie) Flannery of Florida and Michael (Candy) Flannery of Blanchardville, WI and many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Cheryl was preceded in death by both her parents; brother: Greg Flannery (2020); Grandson Chance Leigh (2010); niece Erica Flannery (2000) and nephew Johnny Mike Flannery (2021).

Cheryl was a member of the Argyle Lutheran Church where she also taught Sunday School for many, many years and served on the board for several years. She always had a house full of kids whether it be her grandchildren, nieces, or nephews as they were growing up. Her house was always filled with great laughter, games, and baking something delicious. Cheryl’s biggest blessings in her life were her grandchildren -all 8 of them. She enjoyed watching them participate in sports as they grew older. She was one of their biggest supporters through their years of school.

Cheryl was a member of the Argyle EMS for over 30 years and volunteered countless hours to her community, which she was very proud of. Cheryl took great pride in her daughters and grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held, Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Argyle Lutheran Church (100 East St. Argyle, WI 53504). A visitation will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 9:00 AM- 10:45 AM at the Argyle Lutheran Church in Argyle (100 East St. Argyle, WI 53504).
