Carolyn M. Setterstrom

Carolyn M. Setterstrom, age 96, of Orangeville passed away peacefully on Sunday January 18, 2026, at Citadel ST. Josephs Village of Freeport with her family by her side. She was born on January 8, 1930, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Carl and Ellen (Linn) Swanson. She graduated as the Valedictorian of Stillman Valley High School, class of 1947.

Carolyn married Robert Setterstrom on February 5, 1949, in Rockford, IL and together began a life of farming and raising 6 boys. Mom loved her life on the farm. She always had so much appreciation for the beauty that God created for us to enjoy.

Carolyn loved to entertain family and friends. So many wonderful meals she prepared and so many wonderful memories were shared around the dining room table.

Carolyn is survived by her 6 boys- Jim (Dianna), Tom (Robyn), Gene, Mark (Deborah), Bruce and Paul, brother-in-law; Charles (Carol) Also 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, her brother John (Norma), special niece Karla, and her sweet little Flicka.

She is now joined in heaven with her husband, parents, 6 brothers- Wilbur, Ronald, Marvin, Irving, Sanford and Burdette, and so many others dear friends and family.

Mom shared this memory of her own mother which we think now describes herself. “She was always busy doing nice things for her family and for others. It seemed like she was always baking or cooking something good to eat. You never heard her complain. She was so content with what she had. She loved the Lord and showed it in so many ways. “

We celebrate mom’s life on Saturday January 24, 2026, at 9:30 am at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church in Freeport, IL.  A luncheon will follow at the church, The Cramer-Leamon Funeral Home is assisting the family. The family asks that memorials be directed to the Rockford Rescue Mission and the Park Hills Evangelical Free Church.

The family would like to express a worldful of thanks to the caring, compassionate staff at St. Joesphs. Your beautiful care will never be forgotten. You have become family to us.
