Carol Jean Powell (Gahlbeck), 82 of Monticello, WI. Passed away on 11/08/2025 surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born on October 7, 1943,: to Richard and Marjorie (Luce) Gahlbeck in Belvidere, IL. She married Samuel W. Powell on Friday, February 9, 1962, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Belvidere. She graduated from Belvidere High School and went on to work for Apsco Berol USA for 30 years as an accounting clerk and data processor. She was a proud member of the Monticello Lions and Lioness Club and Lions Club International. She earned the Birch-Sturm Fellowship Award, as well as the Knights of Sight Fellowship Award. After her retirement, she volunteered as a Foster Grandparent at New Glarus Elementary School, where she enjoyed working with many children.
Carol will be dearly missed by her husband of 63 years, Samuel; her children, Richard (Joanne) Powell of Edgerton, WI. and Julie (Jeffrey) of Monticello, WI. Nimtz; her grandchildren, Samuel, Stephanie (Selly), John Powell, Ashley (Zwald), Aaron, Andrew, and Austin Nimtz; her 11 great grandchildren; her sister Shirley Ollman; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Edward and John Gahlbeck.
There will be a Celebration of Life on December 06, 2025, at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 East Lake Ave. Monticello, WI.
Visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Service at 11:00 a.m.
