Bernadine M. McGrath, age 91 of Monroe, died Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on August 16, 1928 in rural Darlington, the daughter of Edward and Geneva (Schwartz) Goebel. She was a 1946 graduate of Darlington High School. Bernadine married Verdel V. McGrath on
April 27, 1954 at St. Victors Catholic Church. She worked as a clerk and telephone operator and also farmed with her husband in Jordan Township. She is a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church; she enjoyed dancing, walking, especially with her friends and family.

She is survived by her 4 children: Gary McGrath of Monroe, twins, Eileen McGrath of Mt Horeb and Colleen McGrath of Verona, and Constance Taylor of Plain, WI; 5 grandchildren: Joshua Taylor and Justin Verdel, Nicole, Ashley and Jessica McGrath; sisters: Rose Mary Lawler of Madison, Charlene Saunders of Warren, IL, Eleanor (Vernon) Gille of Gratiot; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Joseph, Raymond, Robert and Karl Goebel; sisters: Margurite Sperry. Ruth Judkins, and Helene in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Monsignor Larry Bakke as celebrant. Burial will take place at Calvary cemetery. A visitation will be from 11:00 am Thursday until the time of service, at the church. SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home is assisting the family.
