Arthur P. “Arty Paul” Studer Jr., age 87, of Monticello, died following a short illness on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Pleasant View Nursing Home with Al and Sandy by his side. Art was born on December 30, 1937 in Monticello, the son of Arthur Sr. and Mathilda (Lisser) Studer. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1957. Art and Nancy L. Feldt were united in marriage on September 3, 1960 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Monroe. The couple farmed in Mt. Pleasant Township for 40 years. Art enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, and in his younger years played softball, tug-of-war, and participated in a men’s basketball league. A highlight was playing against the female Harlem Globetrotters basketball team. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard 1158th and 64th ROC and was deployed to Washington State during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Mike) Shavlik of Cascade, WI; a son, Alan (Brenda) Studer of Monroe; three grandchildren, Cameron (Kristin) Studer of Sun Prairie and their daughters, Nora and Sophie, Danton Studer of Sun Prairie, Evan Studer (fiancée Sage Langhus) of Monroe; sisters, Barbara Meier, Virginia (Armin) Daubert, both of Monticello, Susan Anderson of Monroe; brother, Lee (Diane) Studer of Monticello; sister-in-law, Donna (Robert) Durtschi of Monticello; many nieces and nephews; and his multiple farm cats. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy, on Oct. 1, 2020; father and mother-in-law, Earl and Myrtle Feldt; brothers-in-law, Robert Meier and Greg Anderson, and nephews-in-law, Jimmy Ritschard and Tim Bruns.
A celebration of Art and Nancy’s life will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Green County Humane Society in Art’s name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
